Update from Dr. Lev in Ukraine

by Pastor Jerry Theckston

Shalom dear ones!  As many of you know Dr. Lev has been sharing the ministry with us in Ukraine since he was 12 years old!  Now he is the European representative to the former Soviet Union to train other doctors in the latest science and treatments for stroke patients!

His travels also take him to the frontlines of the War with Russia to serve the poorest of the poor and those without any possibility of medical care!  He, along with an amazing team of professionals and volunteers spend months each year risking their lives to provide lifesaving medical care and sharing the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

We support their work as God gives resource from the saints!  Recently we were able to send $1500 to his work and $300 to pastor Sergei Orluk who is also a part of the medical team!!

Dear Jerry, dear Sue, and dear friends,

Thank to our God and to you from the bottom of my heart for your deeply touching message. Your words always bring warmth and strength to my soul.

Even in the midst of this terrible war, we truly feel that the Lord continues to guide and sustain us. Your faithfulness and trust are a powerful testimony of His love. The image of the loaves and fishes you mentioned is so beautiful and meaningful, just as in Matthew, what is given with faith and love is always multiplied by God’s grace. I am certain that your gift will bear much fruit.

Thank to our Lord and to you for this generous support. I will use it prayerfully and responsibly, as the Lord leads, for the work He has entrusted to us. And of course, I will pass $300 to Sergei and Lesa Orlyuk for their needs.

Please know that your love, prayers, and partnership mean more than words can express. We feel that we are serving together, even across the ocean.

Toma, Mark, all my family I send you and your lovely family our deepest love and a warm embrace. May the Lord bless you abundantly for your kindness and faith.

And may I kindly ask you how is your health? With great love in Christ,

Lev

Lev just sent another e-mail that gives more of a sense of what they have been facing this Winter!  Russia has been targeting the infrastructure, but we don’t always understand what that means for the people…

Dear Jerry, my dear brother,

Thank you so much for your kind words, I truly miss you as well. Your friendship and prayers mean a lot to me.

Thank God, my health is not bad. I try to take care of myself, watch my nutrition, and stay physically active. This winter has been one of the hardest. At times we had no heating and no electricity at home for several days, while outside the temperature dropped to about −22°C. It was quite cold. But with the Lord, we will endure everything.

These past days I was in Cherkasy, where one of the large centers for displaced people from Donetsk and Luhansk is located. Seeing the needs there reminds me again how important it is to serve and support people in these difficult times.

I truly hope and have a deep desire that one day we will serve the Lord together again. I pray about this and trust that God will guide our paths.

Please take care of yourself and get well soon from the cold. Sending my warm greetings and gratitude for your love and prayers.

With brotherly love in Christ,

Lev
