"Thanks!" An Update from Kenya Graceland School

by Pastor Jerry Theckston

We are in the last month of 2025 and are humbled by God’s faithful provision throughout the entire year for the staff and children at Graceland School in the Kibera slums of Nairobi, Kenya!  Besides providing daily food, school materials, basic support for staff and volunteers we have been able to send them on three field trips this year!  Virtually all of the kids and most of the staff have never been outside of this massive slum!

One small stream is the main source of water for everyone there.  It is used for animals and humans to bathe, throw in waste, wash laundry and draw drinking/ cooking water for daily consumption!

One of the field trips was to a modern swimming pool- crystal clear, warm and a pleasure never imagined before!  Another was to one of the most wonderful, interactive Zoos in the World, filled with wildlife from the Kenyan plains!  Even though it is less than 10 miles away, most of those in the school have never seen it before!  But God provided a bus and the few dollars needed for everyone in the school to experience some of the majesty of their own beautiful Country!  Something unimaginable if you have never been outside the daily harshness of survival in the slums!

Many kids come and go for many often tragic reasons but the ones who made it through the school year had the first taste of success at the joyful graduation Graceland recently celebrated!

There is more but this is a taste of what God has provided for kids, staff, families and volunteers this past year!  They will be finishing up in a week with their Christmas celebration and a generous meal for everyone involved, giving thanks for the blessings of God that have changed the trajectory of many lives forever!!

Your love, prayers and financial support are not unnoticed by God- Proverbs 28:27, “Those who give to the poor will lack nothing…”!!

God bless you abundantly and with great joy!!

In His love,  jerry and sue
